Jon and Lauren – A Ballina engagement photography
Jon and Lauren are due to get married in October of this year and I’m super pumped to be their wedding photographer. For their Ballina engagement photography session we went out exploring around Boulders Beach, in between Lennox Head and Ballina. Lauren’s grandparents had photographs taken there years earlier and Lauren wanted to use it as a backdrop for their engagement session. The weather was pretty epic and we timed the shoot for the last few hours of sunlight to make the most of this gorgeous winter light that bathes the North Coast through the late afternoons. Jon and Lauren were awesome to work with and really relaxed into the shoot.
After exploring a few areas around boulders, we took a short drive up to the top of Skennards Head before heading into Ballina. I’d seen this cool, graphic wall in the middle of town I thought would work well, and give nice urban contrast to the coastal vibe of the earlier locations. That said as we drove into town as the sun’s going down and we’re passing these beautiful beaches and scenic backdrops, I couldn’t help but second guess myself and wonder if I was a little mad. Reassured by the fact that we’d already bagged some great shots though we went with it. It also meant we could pick up a nice coffee in town and have a chat about life, weddings and the universe.
Here’s a small selection of my favourites from the shoot. I can’t wait to see what they’ve got in store for the wedding later this year.
